I need feminism for more reasons than I can fit on a piece of paper.

I need feminism because, as a trans man, and a mostly gay one at that, I’ve had more hate from women than men for “turning my back on” them.

In other words, I need feminism because it’s sickening that even today, people can base their appraisal of your support for feminism on whether or not 1.) You are a woman, and/or 2.) You’re attracted to women - and it still seems perfectly logical in our society.

I need feminism because I was born to a man AND a woman, and I think it’s disgusting that society sees my father as the parent, and my mother as the machine that birthed me and babysat me.

I need feminism because I trust women just as much as I trust men - I most certainly trust them to make good decisions regarding their own health.

I need feminism because I deeply respect anyone who can tolerate the pains the female reproductive system can cause, regardless of whether or not they ever want children.

I need feminism because I can respect a woman’s decision as to whether or not she ever wants children just as much as I can a man’s.

I need feminism because it disgusts me how there are so many multiple standards in how women are treated - a rich white stay-at-home mom is a good mother, a poor black stay-at-home mom is a welfare queen, but they’re both nothing more than machines to produce more babies? What?

I need feminism because I recognize that a woman has as much right to express herself - and be taken seriously - in whatever regard she wants, as a man does.

I need feminism because I’ve met too many women who have been so brainwashed by the misogynistic leaders in their lives that they have stopped trusting themselves and each other, simply on the grounds that they are women.

But above all, I need feminism because I know we will never achieve true equality if we can’t even get society to see that both sexes of the same species and race are equal.
